Project Title: Sleepy Hollow Steelhead Rearing Facility Interim Retrofit Project (IRP)
Project Location -- Specific: At the Sleepy Hollow Steelhead Rearing Facility (Facility) operated by the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District at 45 San Clemente Drive, off Carmel Valley Road on APN 417-051-004, Carmel Valley USGS 7.5-minute quadrangle, T17S, R2E, Section 27, Monterey County

Description of Nature, Purpose and Beneficiaries of Project: The primary project objective is to retrofit the existing water intake system at the Facility. This will allow the District to operate the Facility at wider range of sediment transport in the Carmel River, expected with release of stored sediment from San Clemente Reservoir, as a result of the San Clemente Dam Interim Drawdown Project, ordered by the California Department of Water Resources Division of Dam Safety. IRP objectives can be achieved with no impacts to surrounding vegetation and aquatic habitats. Construction activities are anticipated to begin by April 1, 2003 and end by May 15, 2003.
