SUMMARY: In
response to a Call for Bids, the District has received bids for a 5-passenger
mid-size sedan. The bids are summarized
in the following table:
Budgeted Amount |
Love Chevrolet Bid (Malibu) |
Salinas Valley Ford Bid (Taurus SE) |
Bob Wills Dodge Bid (Sebring LX) |
Cypress Coast Ford Bid (Taurus LX) |
$25,000.00 |
$17,662.34 |
$17,856.00 |
$18,124.89 |
$18,215.35 |
As
the table indicates, Love Chevrolet was the low bidder. District staff has
reviewed the bid and determined that it meets all minimum specifications stated
in the Call for Bids. The amount of the
bid is approximately $7,300 less than the budgeted amount. A small portion of these excess funds will be
required to outfit the vehicle with a radio, logos, etc.
RECOMMENDATION: District staff recommends that the Board
authorize expenditure of funds to purchase one 5-passenger mid-size sedan at a
total cost of approximately $17,700. The
Administrative Committee considered this matter on March 11, 2003 and voted 2
to 0 to recommend approval. This item
will be approved if adopted along with the Consent Calendar.
BACKGROUND:
The Fiscal Year 2002-2003 Budget includes $133,000 for replacement of
four District vehicles. At its July 15,
2002 meeting, the Board approved replacement of the fish transfer truck used
for fish rescues. Authorization to
obtain one ½-ton pickup and one-¾ ton pickup was granted by the Board at its
January 30, 2003 meeting. This sedan is
the final vehicle to be purchased this fiscal year.
