SUMMARY: There are two emergency, stand-by generators at the District’s Sleepy Hollow Steelhead Rearing Facility (Facility) that require preventative maintenance services. These units provide the power necessary to run the pumps, blowers, computer system, etc. at the Facility in case of a Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) power outage. The District has contracted with Quinn Engine Systems of Salinas (Quinn) the past five years to provide the required preventive maintenance for a 75 kW Generac unit, and a 250 kW Caterpillar unit, in order to keep the generators in proper working condition. With Board approval, the General Manager would execute the Maintenance Agreement with Quinn (Exhibit 5-A) for an amount not-to-exceed $4,100 per year. This is a two-year service agreement for a total price of $8146.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the General Manager to execute an agreement with Quinn for generator preventative maintenance services in an amount not-to-exceed $4,100 during FY 2004 - 2005. The Administrative Committee reviewed this item and recommended approval by a vote of 2 to 0, at its September 13, 2004 meeting.
IMPACT TO STAFF/RESOURCES: The District has contracted with Quinn to
service the generators for the past five years.
The pending service contract with Quinn covers the next two years
(October 1, 2004 - September 30, 2006) at a not-to-exceed annual cost of
$4,100. Only $4,000 of this amount was
included in the FY 2004-2005 District Budget (Summary of Project Expenditures,
Program 2-4-1 E). The remaining $100
will be covered with the general operations fund.
