SUMMARY: The District has been a member of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) for many years and benefits from a variety of services offered by the Association. The District has received an invoice in the amount of $2,975 for 2005 dues.
RECOMMENDATION: District
staff recommends expenditure of budgeted funds in the amount of $2,975 for 2005
Association of
BACKGROUND: The District has been a member of the ACWA for many years. Dues are based on the District’s operation and maintenance expenditures as reported to the State Controller’s office. As a member, the District benefits from a variety of programs and services including:
· Low cost benefit and insurance plans
· Unique access to key State and Federal officials, and networking opportunities at conferences and other programs
· ACWA’s State and Federal legislative and regulatory efforts provide timely information, advance bills and issues of concern and halt potentially dangerous measures
· ACWA’s communication efforts, which include an award winning Web site, timely publications and strategic media relations keep members informed and able to effectively react to key water issues
