I.          TOPICS OF DISCUSSION

            A.        NEW BUSINESS

-

1.        Inspection of District Field Offices:  Team Safety conducted its annual inspection of work locations in Carmel Valley.

Carmel Valley Field Office:  The office was in order, with aisles clear, and all inspection categories satisfactory.  Fire extinguishers were charged and inspected.  First aid supplies were in place.  Housekeeping issues that have been reported in the past have been remedied.

Carmel Valley Shop:      The repeated instances of housekeeping problems that have been reported in past years for the shop were not in evidence.  The floors were clean and clear of debris, such as sawdust and wood chips. Storage shelves have been built and are being used for equipment that formerly was blocking easy access to the room or quick egress from the shop out through the door.  The large dredge has been stored on its side, freeing up a large amount of space for other items.  The extinguisher was charged and inspected.  An exit sign had been placed over the door. First aid and emergency supplies were in place. The only item noted was the need for a battery for the emergency flashlight.

Sleepy Hollow Fish Rearing Facility:       Everything in the main office building was in order with no equipment and boots cluttering the floor as was the case last year.  The storage shed had been cleaned and cleared of unused materials, allowing for safe and easy access.  The new fire hose is attached, with a nozzle, and ready to be used in case of emergency.  The deck, tank areas, and rearing channel provide clear work spaces. The pump gallery was inspected in May during Confined Spaces Training exercises.

The consensus of Team Safety is that this was an excellent inspection, and the best they have seen to date of the District’s field locations.
