SUMMARY:
Total System
for Month: Total California American Water (Cal-Am) system
production for July was 1,594 acre-feet (AF), one percent more than the
anticipated goal of 1,575 AF, as shown on the accompanying table (Exhibit 20-A). The 1,594 AF of production
in July represents a 17 percent savings from Cal-Am's base year (i.e., Water
Year 1988) production of 1,925 AF.
Total System,
Water Year to Date: Total system production for 2006
Water Year (WY) through July 31, 2006 has been 11,373 AF.
Ground Water Production: During July, 80 AF were produced from Cal-Am wells in the Upper Carmel Valley. This production was 167 percent more than the anticipated production of 30 AF. Lower Carmel Valley (LCV) well production was 1,017 AF, one percent less than the anticipated production of 1,027 AF. In July, 497 AF were produced by Cal-Am from the coastal subareas of the Seaside Basin, four percent less than the 518 AF of production that was anticipated.
Surface Water
Production: In July, no water was diverted through the
Carmel Valley Filter Plant (CVFP) from San Clemente Reservoir, equivalent to
the zero AF of production that was anticipated.
The total diversion through the CVFP for WY 2006 has been zero AF, or
zero percent of total system production. Average release to the Carmel River
from San Clemente Dam during July was 22 cubic feet per second, as measured at
the Sleepy Hollow Weir.
The anticipated river flow, storage values and production goals were
developed jointly by the District, Cal-Am, and the California Department of
Fish and Game in consultation with NOAA Fisheries. Cal-Am and District staff are monitoring
reservoir storage, inflow and water quality, and will make additional changes
as conditions warrant. Please refer to Exhibit 20-A for additional information
regarding Cal-Am production in July 2006.
