August 31, 2006 Presentation on Seawater Conversion Vessels

The public is invited to a presentation on Seawater Conversion Vessels (SCV), which will take place at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2006 in the Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency Boardroom, 5 Harris Court, Building D, Monterey.  The presentation will be made by Skip Griffin, Sr. Vice President, PBS&J Inc., one of the country’s largest engineering design firms, which has partnered with Water Standard Co. to develop an ocean-based desalination technology that it is marketing internationally.  PBS&J/Water Standard believe that their SCV project concept merits consideration as an alternative to land-based desalination.  The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District is hosting this one-hour presentation, plus an opportunity for questions and answers, to benefit interested elected officials and staff of cities, water/wastwater agencies and other public entities in Monterey County that have been working on a regional approach to solving long-term water needs.  MPWMD has neither analyzed nor endorsed the SCV project concept.

An agenda for the meeting is attached.  The meeting is intended as a public presentation only.  It is noticed as a Special Board meeting in the event that a quorum of the Board attends.
