SUMMARY:

November 2007

Total System for Month:  Total California American Water (CAW) system production for November was 1,117 acre-feet (AF), four percent more than the anticipated goal of 1,071 AF, as shown on the accompanying table (Exhibit 26-A). The 1,117 AF of production in November represents a five percent increase over CAW's base year (i.e., Water Year 1988) production of 1,067 AF.

Total System, Water Year to Date:  Total system production for the 2008 Water Year (WY), through November 30, 2007 has been 2,286 AF.

Ground Water Production:  During November, 28 AF were produced from CAW wells in the Upper Carmel Valley.  This production was seven percent less than the anticipated production of 30 AF.  Lower Carmel Valley well production was 750 AF, 17 percent more than the anticipated production of 641 AF.  In November, 339 AF were produced by CAW from the coastal subareas of the Seaside Basin, 15 percent less than the 400 AF of production that was anticipated.

Surface Water Production:  In November, no water was diverted through the Carmel Valley Filter Plant (CVFP) from San Clemente Reservoir, equivalent to the zero AF of production that was anticipated.  The total diversion through the CVFP for WY 2008 has been zero AF, or zero percent of total system production. Average release to the Carmel River from San Clemente Dam during November was 3.6 cubic feet per second, as measured at the Sleepy Hollow Weir.

The anticipated river flow, storage values and production goals were developed jointly by the District, CAW, and the California Department of Fish and Game in consultation with NOAA Fisheries.  CAW and District staff are monitoring reservoir storage, inflow and water quality, and will make additional changes as conditions warrant.  Please refer to Exhibit 26-A for additional information regarding CAW production in November 2007.
