SUMMARY: Attached as Exhibit 5-A is a proposed Board meeting schedule for the months of January 2009 through February 2010. This schedule includes the regular monthly Board meetings, a budget workshop, and three supplemental reserve meeting dates should the need arise for special meetings/workshops during the upcoming year. The regular Board meetings in January and February are set for the fourth or fifth Thursday of the month. The change is required because the third Monday of January is the Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday holiday, and the third Monday of February is the Presidents’ Day holiday. Note that in May 2009, the District will conduct its regular meeting date on the third Thursday of the month in order to accommodate constraints on the Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency (MRWPCA) Board meeting schedule. The Board meetings will be conducted in the District’s conference room unless there is a need to meet in another location. Changes to a meeting time or location will be published on the meeting agenda.

RECOMMENDATION: Review and adopt the 2009 MPWMD Board meeting schedule.

BACKGROUND: The meeting dates were selected in coordination with the MRWPCA to insure that our meeting dates do not conflict with their Board’s meeting schedule. In addition, there should be no conflict with any regularly scheduled city council or planning commission meeting within the District boundaries on those meeting dates that are set for the fourth or fifth Thursday.
