Ad Hoc Water Supply Planning Committee Meeting of the
Monterey Peninsula Water Management District
December 9, 2008
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:07 AM in the District conference room.

Action Items
1. Adopt Committee Charge
The committee reviewed the draft charge and recommended that it be revised as follows: (1) scope of the charge shall not be limited to coordination with Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency only; (2) committee shall terminate when the Board determines that the charge has been completed; (3) committee name will be Water Supply Planning Committee; and (4) the term water supply “development” in the last paragraph of the charge shall be changed to water supply “planning.” The revised charge shall be reviewed by the committee at its next meeting and submitted for Board approval on January 29, 2009. It was also agreed that a committee chair would be elected at the next committee meeting.

Outline of Draft MOU
The committee reviewed a draft Memorandum of Agreement between the MRWPCA and the MPWMD and provided direction to District Counsel on modifications that should be presented at the next committee meeting that include: (1) modify the term of the agreement; (2) in the case of disputes, mediation should be required prior to litigation; and (3) mention in Section E that MRWPCA owns an unused ocean outfall. During the discussion, it was suggested that in the future, the committee may want to meet with representatives of the Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) to discuss development of a similar MOU with that agency.

The next meeting was tentatively set for Friday, January 9, 2009 at 1:30 PM.
