A Resolution of the Board of Directors of

the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District

Proclaiming May 2009 as

“Water Awareness Month” in the Monterey Peninsula Water

Management District

WHEREAS, water is one of California’s and the Monterey Peninsula’s most precious resources, and;

WHEREAS, the health, safety and welfare of the people, and the region’s economic health depends on a reliable and safe supply of high quality water, and;

WHEREAS, water plays a vital role in the everyday lives of all citizens of the region and state, and it is important that individuals understand the critical importance of the resource and its many beneficial uses, and;

WHEREAS, the limited availability of water on the Monterey Peninsula depends on careful management of the existing water resources; and

WHEREAS, because of the unpredictability of the weather, the only way to ensure an adequate supply of water for this and future generations is through the enactment of wise water policy and the careful and conservative use of this resource.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the month of May, 2009, is hereby designated as “Water Awareness Month” in the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District, and that all members of the community are encouraged to participate and work to increase the level of understanding of how water influences their lives and well-being.
