1) Safety
Record for FY 2009-2009: Team
Safety reviewed the District’s exemplary safety record for this fiscal
year. This is the second year in a row
that we have had no accidents or injuries, other than one first aid doctor’s
visit in 2009. As a result, our Workers’
Compensation “experience” modification will be set at 73% of the rates for each
employee category of waterworks for field workers, outside sales for
conservation representatives doing inspections, and clerical for office
staff. In addition, through training and
the development of sound personnel and safety policies, we have been able to
secure a 15% discount on Workers’ Compensation rates for the coming fiscal
year. This is the result of District
employee awareness safe work methods, keeping their safety training in mind.

Safety
Training in 2009: The
safety training calendar for 2009 was completed by suggestions from the team,
including Defensive Driving, Back Safety, and First Aid. Comprehensive First Aid and Safety training
through the Red Cross will be offered in 2010, when current certifications are
expired.

Upcoming
Safety Inspections: Inspection of the field locations will
take place in early October and inspection of the
