SUMMARY: At its November 10, 2009 strategic workshop, the Board directed staff to join with California American Water, Marina Coast Water District (MCWD), Monterey County Water Resources Agency (MCWRA), Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency (MRWPCA), and member jurisdictions to provide input on the regional water supply planning process. On January 6, 2010, MPWMD General Manager Fuerst met with the general managers from MCWD, MCWRA, and MRWPCA to discuss the regional planning process to date and ways in which MPWMD could be more fully engaged in the process. At this meeting, it was suggested that MPWMD could clarify its position by adopting a resolution expressing support for the Regional Project. This resolution, Resolution 2010-01, is included as Exhibit 22-A.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Board adopt Resolution 2010-01 expressing support for the proposed Monterey Regional Water Supply Program.
