Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4 p.m. in the District conference room.

1. Receive Minutes of February 22, 2010 Committee Meeting
On a motion by Director
Pendergrass and second by Director Markey, the minutes were received
unanimously on a vote of 3 – 0.
Discussion Items
2. Discuss
and Recommend Actions to Maximize Water Conservation Opportunities During
Ms. Pintar reported that she will meet with members of the visitor serving industry and suggest that they limit washing of cars during the event, and suggest other water saving measures. A flyer has been developed that will be given to hotel/motel guests that encourages water conservation. Also, California American Water’s radio advertisements promoting conservation will be visitor focused in the month of June.

on Laundry to Landscape Greywater Reuse Training
Ms. Pintar reported that it would cost approximately $8,000 to conduct a five-day Laundry to Landscape Greywater Reuse training session. She suggested that most people would benefit most from a one-day course. The Monterey County Business Council may conduct a training session. Installation of a t-valve is required for the laundry-to-landscape system. The committee members agreed that they would support the purchase of T-Valves by the District, which could be given to persons that complete a laundry-to-landscape training session.
In response to a question from the
committee about use of greywater for toilet flushing, Ms. Pintar noted that a
filtration and disinfection system would be required. Some of the drawbacks of the systems are that
greywater clogs the toilet flapper, and has a strong odor. The

May 1, 2010 Water Awareness Day Event and Public Outreach re Groundwater
Replenishment Project
The committee members discussed the possibility of educating the public about the Groundwater Replenishment Project at the Water Awareness Day Event. The consensus was that the District should take no action to promote the project until July 2010.
