SUMMARY: Staff seeks authorization to extend contract
for T-1 Line (Exhibit 2-A) to
provide Internet Connectivity for Sleepy Hollow Fish Rearing Facility. Line is providing Internet connectivity for
staff working at facility and to provide remote monitoring capabilities when
staff is off site
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of expenditures not to exceed $7,236 ($603/month for 12 months) over the life of the contract. Contract is for 1 year with an early termination clause of 40 percent.
IMPACT TO STAFF/RESOURCES: This item is included in the FY 2011-12 budget under Data Processing.
BACKGROUND: Redshift Internet Services has been providing T-1 access to the Sleepy Hollow Facility Since 2008 when the I-Net was put into production and the T-1 from 5 Harris Ct was moved to the Facility. Staff looked into alternative Internet service at the facility, but due to the remote location and distance from the telephone company central office T-1 is the only viable solution.
