A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE

MONTEREY PENINSULA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT

AUTHORIZING STAFF TO APPLY FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS OF EXPANSION OF THE SEASIDE GROUNDWATER BASIN AQUIFER STORAGE AND RECOVERY GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District (MPWMD) has designed, permitted and constructed the Phase 1 Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project in the Seaside Groundwater Basin, located near General Jim Moore Boulevard and Eucalyptus Road in Seaside;

WHEREAS, the MPWMD is currently operating the Phase 1 ASR project in conjunction with California American Water (Cal-Am), and is cooperating with Cal-Am on development of the Phase 2 ASR project;

WHEREAS, state grant funds are available through the Department of Water Resources 2012 Local Groundwater Assistance (LGA) funding program;

WHEREAS, these state grant funds could facilitate evaluating the feasibility of expansion of the Seaside Groundwater Basin Aquifer Storage and Recovery Groundwater Management Program;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

1. MPWMD staff shall prepare and submit an application for funds available through the Department of Water Resources to evaluate the feasibility of expansion of the Seaside Groundwater Basin Aquifer Storage and Recovery Groundwater Management Program.
