SUMMARY: The
General Staff Bargaining Unit and
Management Staff Bargaining Unit, represented by United Public Employees of
California, Local 792, have agreed
to Side-letter Agreements, included as Exhibit
9-A and Exhibit 9-B, that extend the
terms of their Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) through the end of FY
2012-2013, with no changes. The unrepresented
Confidential Staff Bargaining Unit has agreed to the same extension (Exhibit
9-C).
The text of the “Term of Agreement” articles in each MOU has been amended identically:
“The term of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect without change, addition or amendment through June 30, 2013 and shall be renewed thereafter subject to reopening by either party upon written notice to the other party no more than 120 days prior to June 30, 2013 or any June 30 anniversary date thereafter.”
RECOMMENDATION: Approve by motion the Side-letter Agreements with the General Staff, Management Staff, and Confidential Staff Bargaining Units (Exhibit 9-A, Exhibit 9-B, and Exhibit 9-C) and authorize the General Manager to sign these labor agreements.
BACKGROUND: On June 30, 2012, the Memorandums of Understanding with the District’s three bargaining units expired. On July 5, 2012, the represented and unrepresented bargaining units agreed to extend their contracts through the end of FY 2012-2013.
