SUMMARY: On November 19, 2012, the District re-instated the Rebate Program for California American Water (CAW) customers. The online Rebate application will allow applicants to apply for rebates.
Staff is requesting authorization to spend a not-to-exceed amount of $3,500 to address computer programming needs related to developing an online rebate application program. Zone 24x7 is the consulting firm that developed the Districts database program.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Board authorize expenditure of funds in an amount not-to-exceed $3,500 for programming efforts by Zone 24x7 to accommodate the online rebate application.
IMPACT TO STAFF/RESOURCES: The Fiscal Year 2012-13 budget included $30,000
for Database Project Ordinance Programming to the Water Demand Division database.
Without modifications to the database
for Online Rebate application, staff would have to manually process and track
the rebates. This would defeat the
purpose of the new database, which is to manage all aspects of the conservation
program and to increase accuracy in administration and reporting. Manual
processing of these records impacts the Water Demand Division staff, accounting,
and support services staff.
