SUMMARY: In 2000, the District bought the Harris Court
property and had the original carpet installed at that time. The existing carpet has been in use for 14
years and is now showing signs of wear and tear and needs to be replaced. The carpet is lifting up throughout the
office creating safety hazard for the employees. Staff solicited bids from 3 different
companies which are attached as Exhibit 2-A.
The price includes removal of the old carpet, moving
of the office furniture and reinstalling new carpet. Based on the attached bids, staff recommends
selecting Broadway Carpets Option 1 for a price of $26,500. The FY 2013-2014 budget included $25,000 for
this project, and additional $1,500 will be used from the contingency line
item.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the
Board select Broadway Carpets Option 1 for a price of $26,500 and authorize the
District Administrative Services Manager to execute all necessary contracts
associated with this project.
