SUMMARY: Thomas
Brand Consulting (TBC) has been successfully assisting MPWMD with outreach
efforts since April 2013. Through TBC’s efforts, the District has positioned itself in
leadership roles related to public financing of the water supply project, the
Monterey Peninsula Groundwater Replenishment Project (GWR), conservation, river
mitigation, and fish population management.
This item approves an
expanded Scope of Work (Exhibit 5-A) initially approved in the mid-Fiscal
Year 2014 budget adjustment to respond to drought conditions, website
improvements, and direction from the Public Outreach to educate the public
about the District’s activities. The
contract includes a monthly retainer of $4,600 that will be reduced to $4,100
in January 2015. Out of scope work will
be billed at $150/hour. Costs related to
design and products are included in the mid-year budget adjustment under
separate budget line items. This item
was reviewed and recommended for approval by the Public Outreach and
Administrative Committees.
RECOMMENDATION: By adopting this item on the Consent Calendar,
the Board authorizes the General Manager to contract with Thomas Brand
Consulting for $52,200 for Fiscal Year 2014.
Approval of this item will be contingent upon final adoption of the FY
2014-2015 budget.
