Processes Followed by Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District and

Monterey County Board of Supervisors for

Annual Rotation of the Chair

Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District

Information provided by Joe Donofrio, General Manager

Monterey County Board of Supervisors

Information provided by Darlene Drain, Clerk to the Board

There is no written policy for rotation of the chair.  The rotation is established by Board members moving sequentially through the 3 appointed officer positions on the Board, i.e. Secretary/Treasurer, Vice-President and President. The Board members then move up year to year through the positions and then rotate through them again if they are still on the Board for another 4 year term. New Board members drop into the rotation as last in order of sequence as they join the Board. This allows new members to serve a year or two before becoming Secretary/Treasurer and moving up to position of President.

Following a search of records, there is no evidence that an adopted policy requiring rotation of the chair exists.   Supervisors have rotated into the position of Chair sequentially by District number since 1999.  In January of each year, the Vice Chair

rotates into the position of Chair.
