Commercial/Industrial/Institutional Water Audit

Scope of Work

 

 

 Audit

  1. Receive referrals for audits from MPWMD Water Demand Division staff.  Referrals shall include contact information for the audit site.
  2. Receive water consumption data from purveyor or request records from appropriate administrative office.
    1. Contractor shall ensure that all water meters serving the site have been identified and water records are available.  If records are not available prior to site audit, inform MPWMD prior to site audit.
    2. Water use data shall be used to prepare graph of historic use to be included in report.
    3. Water use data shall be used to prepare pie chart showing types/locations of existing water uses.
    4. Water use data shall be considered in estimations of water savings for specific retrofit.
  3. Complete all applicable follow up with customer to schedule data collection by phone, on-site audits, and post-audit questions.
  4. Complete onsite audit including indoor and outdoor areas of water usage.
    1. Outdoor water audit shall include preparation of a water budget in compliance with MPWMD Rule 172 in a format that can be amended to account for improvements to the landscaping and irrigation system(s).
  5. Compile the report within 15 business days of completion of the site audit.
  6. Prepare 3 printed color copies of the completed audit report and provide to MPWMD.
  7. Provide MPWMD with one PDF file of the completed audit report.
  8. Provide MPWMD with electronic spreadsheet of raw data and water budget(s).

Report

A final audit report for each site shall be compiled that includes at least the following information:

  1. Identify location and account numbers of all water meters serving the site.
  2. Identify water uses on each water meter.
  3. List and count all water using devices, appliances, fixtures and process operations including model numbers, location, estimated age of fixture/appliance and estimated annual water usage.
  4. Identify location and provide explanation of any leaks or other water-use issues identified on the site.
  5. Verify compliance with MPWMD Regulation XIV for existing Non-Residential uses.
  6. Verify compliance with MPWMD Regulation XIV for Non-Residential New Construction or Expansion of Use, if applicable.
  7. Calculate customer water allotment/budget (efficient monthly water usage applicable for the property given operations and collected information from the on-site audit) with comparison to actual water usage.
  8. Prepare replacement/retrofit recommendations for each water using fixture, including water and water cost savings estimates.  Provide the calculated return on investment (ROI) or payback for all devices, appliances, process upgrades and other water saving improvements.
  9. Provide energy savings and cost savings estimate, when available.
