for release this Fall. The cost of the 20-page
rainwater harvesting publication includes approximately $6,000 for 10,000
copies at 0.57 cents a piece and $4,000 for a locally focused conservation
ad to be on the back cover of the
publication. The total cost for each
copy of the publication is $0.97 each.
Copies of similar publications by the same publisher are available for
review at the District office.

Funding for these
items is included in the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 budget and is reimbursable by
California American Water. California
American Water supports the purchase of this material, particularly as the
conservation program focuses on reducing the use of potable water for
irrigation.
RECOMMENDATION: The Administrative Committee should recommend that the Board authorize staff to commit to the purchase of 10,000 copies of Captive Rain: The Oldest Water Supply, and commit to a back cover ad with Onward Publishing with a not-to-exceed cost of $10,000, and to approve the expenditure of funds in a not-to-exceed amount of $3,000 for purchasing conservation print material (mirror/window clings/stickers) for public education.
IMPACT
TO STAFF/RESOURCES: Funding is
available through reimbursement by California American Water in the
conservation budget approved by the California Public Utilities Commission in
May 2009. Funds for this additional expenditure were in
the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 budget.
