SUMMARY: In June, staff began preparation of the Sleepy
Hollow Steelhead Rearing Facility (SHSRF) for the upcoming 2010 rescue season.
During this time, intake pumps were turned on and tested. Intake pump #2 failed. The moisture control
unit in the motor control was on. This
means that moisture had entered the pump seals.
JM Electric was called in to diagnose whether the pump had failed and
needed to be removed or an electrical component had failed. The diagnosis indicated a failed pump. Intake pump #2 was removed and sent to the
pump manufacturer, PACO Pumps, in

plans to select option #1, recondition motor with tungsten carbine lower seal. Total cost including sales tax (9.75% in
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Board approve
this expenditure. These funds are within the allocation identified for this
purpose in the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 Budget, under line item 2-3-1 G.
