MPWMD was a sponsor at the $5,000
level in 2010. The event was a huge
success and resulted in a larger number of local participants than the Monterey
County Fair, formerly the District’s largest outreach event of the year. On Saturday, May 1, 2010, the Water Awareness
Day Celebration was held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Del Monte Shopping
Center. The event began with 16 booths
including MPWMD, California American Water, Marina Coast Water District, KWAV,

RECOMMENDATION: The Administrative Committee should support a recommendation to the Board supporting the District’s sponsorship at the $5,000 level. The Board sponsored Water Awareness Day at this level in 2010. Funding is in the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 budget. Sponsorship of a local water conservation event of this magnitude provides the District with an opportunity to educate the public about its mission and vision.
