SUMMARY:
Staff is requesting Board authorization to reinstate the Rebate Program
for California American Water (CAW) customers once reimbursement funding from
CAW’s General Rate Case (GRC) has been approved. The GRC will authorize reimbursement of $2.1
million for Rebates during the period of 2012-2014. Approval of the Rebate Program funding is
anticipated in late May 2012, and staff will reinstate the program as soon as
assurances are received from CAW that funds are available.
As
of May 10, 2012, the exact timing of implementation is not known, however the
reinstatement will be heralded with press releases, advertising by CAW and
other outreach. District Rules 141-C and
141-F explain the qualification processes.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Administrative Committee support reimplementation of the Rebate Program.
