SUMMARY: On
February 25, 2014 Directors Brower and Byrne met with Congressman Sam Farr and
staff. The following items were discussed:
Include in future legislation our districts efforts in water conservation. The Congressman is extremely proud of what we have accomplished and would like to make any drought relief funding subject to conservation efforts similar to what we have been accomplishing Agreed to produce a workable document outlining those rules, reg's and applications.
Need to provide a letter outlining our funding request for GWR? He agrees that the Federal government should be providing money here and too little dollars have been suggested in the current bills.
Prepare a list of small districts, not connected to the state system with the idea of getting together with those representatives that represent those districts for small district legislation.
He suggested he could help with the farmers for GWR. We need a marketing piece that clearly outlines the win-win we all have been talking about.
Provide a copy of the final report on the Carmel River studies that we have been undergoing.
