SUMMARY: Attached as Exhibit 2-A is the draft Public Outreach Plan that was prepared by Committee Chair, Regina Doyle. This is a revised version of the Plan that was submitted for committee review on April 3, 2008.

RECOMMENDATION: The committee should review the draft Public Outreach Plan, decide if further refinement is necessary and determine if the Plan should be referred to the Board for adoption at the May 19, 2008 meeting.

BACKGROUND: On February 26, 2008, the Committee reviewed and discussed the draft Public Outreach Plan, charging the Public Outreach Committee to “… broaden the committee’s look at the scope and substance of the draft plan… [to] enable the Committee to potentially address desired methods for communicating with the community on the SWRCB staff’s draft CDO and other key policy issues discussed at the … MPWMD strategic Planning Workshop.” At the March 6, 2008 committee meeting, the Plan was again reviewed and Director Doyle agreed to work with staff to develop a new Plan that would result in a more active, practical plan to further the District’s mission and vision statements. Director Doyle submitted a revised Plan for review at the April 3, 2008 committee meeting. As a result of the discussion, Director Doyle agreed to refine the Plan and submit it for committee consideration at the May 2, 2008 meeting.
