SUMMARY: Staff was recently
contacted by a member of the public who was concerned about the number of
private unpermitted event Sites that are available and asked that the District
review the situation. Both Residential
and Non-Residential Sites are being used from time to time for large private
events. The use of these facilities for
large parties and performances takes place without benefit of a Water Permit. In some cases, the event Site has been
permitted by the District with a low Non-Residential water demand. The Sites are often advertised as rental
properties on the Internet.
RECOMMENDATION: The Water
Demand Committee should discuss the situation and provide direction to staff. For Sites that staff can identify as being
rented for events, the property
managers can be notified that a Water Permit may be required. Staff could also try to coordinate with the
Jurisdiction. Finally, Residential event
Sites will be subject to a Residential Water Ration in Rationing. Without benefit of a Water Permit for a Non-Residential
use, these Sites will be restricted and this information can be communicated to
the property owner.
