SUMMARY: Following approval of a variance for Santa Lucia Café at the March 2014 Board meeting, the Water Demand Committee requested that staff use that variance request as a basis for defining Group II guidelines. Staff has added language to Table 2, Non-Residential Water Use Factors in response to the committee’s direction. Attached as Exhibit 2-A are revisions to Table 2 for consideration. Conditions related to the Group II food uses printed on the Water Permit and will not be recorded on the title of the property.
In
addition to adding food service parameters under Group II Non-Residential uses
and adding other variations of the “deli” type of use, staff proposes that
“convenience store” (i.e., 7-11/Quik Stop/gas station convenience stores, etc.)
be moved to Group I, and that “dry cleaners” that launder On-Site be moved to
Group III, while retail “dry cleaner” drop off locations be moved to Group I.
RECOMMENDATION: The Water Demand Committee should consider a recommendation to the Board on the proposed amendments to Table 2.
