SUMMARY: At its May 20, 2024 meeting the Board adopted strategic planning goals and objectives for the current year (near-term objectives), as well as beyond (long-term objectives). Previously, for 9 years goal-setting had been conducted in odd-numbered years, with 1-year and 3-year goals. In 2021 the strategic planning process was revised to be an annual process as follows:
Jan/Feb Establish strategic goals with near-term objectives and long-term objectives.
July/Aug Mid-year update to the Board and public
Nov/Dec Year-end review and General Manager performance appraisal
This year, the Board held a strategic planning workshop on May 2nd. Goals were established ahead of the budget cycle in order to ensure any new initiatives that require funding could be included in the budget draft in May and final in June.
RECOMMENDATION: The General Manager recommends that the Board of Directors receive the summary attached as Exhibit 7-A.
